Actuarial Science is the study of problems of insurance and finance through mathematical modeling. Actuaries develop theoretical models to evaluate the current financial implications of uncertain future events. As such, actuaries require a strong mathematical background supplemented by work in business, finance and economics.

To become fully accredited as an actuary, one must pass a series of rigorous examinations administered by the Society of Actuaries [SOA] and the Casualty Actuarial Society [CAS]. Our program provides preparation for the first two examinations and most of the third.

News: Approved courses for Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) from Society of Actuaries, Casualty Actuarial Society, and Canadian Institute of Actuaries. Click here to see this Word document.

The Otterbein Actuarial Science Club is our organization for interested students.
